When skating outdoors, it's important to dress warmly and comfortably. The most important items are:

  • Layers: We recommend wearing a few layers to trap heat and insulate your body.
  • A jacket or warm jumper: A fleece or a sweater, and top it off with a waterproof and windproof outer layer.  Insulated, waterproof, or wind-resistant trousers will keep your legs dry and warm.
  • Gloves or mittens to keep your hands warm
  • Hat or Beanie to retain body heat, as a significant amount of heat is lost through the head
  • Scarf or Neck Gaiter to protect your neck and face from the cold wind
  • Long, thick socks to make your skates nice and comfy

It's better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed when skating outdoors in cold conditions, and you will probably find that you'll warm up once you start skating.

Ice skate rental is not included in the standard entry fee and available at a small additional cost.

Skate hire is however included in the price for Pre-schoolers. Skate hire is also included in Family Specials and Birthday Parties. See our Charges page for details.

Yes! We make your visit hassle-free by providing all the necessary equipment:

  • We supply children's size 8 to adult size 13, available in both figure and hockey skate styles
  • For beginners, helmets are available for free when you hire skates (highly recommended for safety)

To assist young skaters in gaining confidence, we offer adorable penguin and  whale skate aids for hire! These are available for a hire fee of $5, along with a bond. Please check for availability at the time of your visit, as we cannot guarantee the availability of skate aids at all times.

Professional Coaching for casual skating is available and provided by the skating club and Iceinline.

July School Holiday Activities Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

During the July school holidays, an Activities Programme is held where children can learn figure skating, hockey and curling skills. This is an ideal way to introduce your children to ice sports and is especially popular with grandparents who have grandchildren visiting for the holidays.  All sessions go for 1 hour each.

Contact the rink for more details.
